Honeymoon Highlights

We’re back from 8 amazing days in Maui aka the most-beautiful place on earth! It was the perfect spot for our honeymoon with the right mix of adventure, activities and relaxing time by the pool.

We did so many cool things like powered hang-gliding, hiking to secluded waterfalls, snorkeling and lots of time by the pool. Of course we also ate some amazing meals, most of which had gorgeous sunset views.

This slide show showcases some of the best parts of our trip.

Please excuse the extra-wide screen, I wanted you all to see the full extent of the photos. There’s a lot, so if you want to skip some, click the player to go to Picasa and see thumbnails.

I can’t wait until we can go back!!

To My Love

Just the other day I was reading through some old emails and came across one to a friend of mine. I was telling her about my weekend, “I met this guy named Batman….no joke. lol! He took my number, so let’s see where this one takes me…” Little did I know that it would take me on three years of adventure filled with laughter, fun and of course hugs and kisses. The day I wrote this email, I certainly did not know what amazing things were in store for us.

Since you’ve come into my life, everyone close to me has agreed that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I thought I had a complete life before I met you- I had great friends, family, a career and my own interests and hobbies. I had no idea how the addition of someone to share it with would make everything seem 10x fuller, happier and complete.

I prayed to God many times to guide me to a man who was smart, kind and handsome. He’s blessed me with much more than I ever could imagine. Your patience, thoughtfulness, intelligence and confidence amaze me. I thank God every day for bringing us together.

Thank you for loving me for exactly who I am. You celebrate my talents & triumphs and are patient and understanding when I may not be at my best. We laugh together every day and have the best conversations, which is more than I could have asked for.

Today, I hope you know that I love you with all my heart and I can’t wait to be your wife.

Love always and forever,

Liz

The Last Few Days…

In the last few days leading up to our wedding, I’ve gotten a lot of well-wishes and advice from other former brides. The one thing they all say is “try to soak up as much as you can, it goes by SO FAST!”

I have no doubt that this weekend will breeze by in a flash, so I’m going to do my best to take their advice to heart. Exactly how I’ll do it is another question. I can’t help but think of Pam on The Office and the “mental snapshots” she took throughout her and Jim’s wedding.

But beyond the events of the weekend, I am wondering how I am going to feel. I’ve heard two different takes on the wedding day from former brides:

  1. “It was the best day of my life!”
  2. “I couldn’t wait for my wedding to be over! It was just stressful and not fun for me at all.”

One of my biggest fears is that I’ll end up feeling like the second example, anxious and stressed on Saturday instead of relaxed and happy. We’re in a really good position with the little details and last minute stresses, but it still worries me.

I’m going to ask my bridesmaids and family to do their best to stay calm and relaxed, because I think they’re demeanor will rub off on me. I’m also going to keep reminding myself that it’s ONE DAY and it doesn’t have to be “THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE,” because that’s a lot to live up to.

What I’m expecting in all honesty is an array of emotions from joyful and excited, to stressed and even sad when it’s all over. Through it all I will try to remember what it’s all about, my love for Luke and our commitment to each other.

Do you guys have any tips for staying sane on my wedding day? How can I make the most of the short 24 hours?
